Fall Festivities in Orlando to Celebrate Autumn

What does the fall season mean to you? Autumn may look a bit different in Florida than it does in the Midwest or elsewhere across the United States, but that does not mean Floridians don’t recognize what makes fall a season worth celebrating. Looking around Longwood and the surrounding Orlando area, you’ll find that there is an abundance of ways to settle into the fall months. At Village on the Green, we’re happy to help point you in the right direction.

Autumn Spirit is Not Hard to Find in Florida

Not much may change when the fall season begins in Florida. The weather remains pretty warm, so no one will be swapping their summer clothes for a heavy sweater. Maybe a light jacket in the evenings once the temperature drops a bit. But the lack of noticeable change in the environment does not mean that Floridians are immune to the autumn spirit. In fact, there are plenty of fall events and activities for residents eager to celebrate the staples of fall. These events become especially enticing as we get deeper into the fall and the heat and humidity breaks.

Make Your Own Plans for Celebrating Fall

You don’t need to wait for an event or activity to be announced to celebrate fall in Florida. There are plenty of ways for you to ring in the autumn season at home or in your area.

  1. Bake. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, the baking season is upon us! Start warming up the oven and producing tasty treats, whether it is a pumpkin pie or a sheet of sugar cookies. There is fall fun to be had in the kitchen, so be sure to invite over friends or family to help you bake or simply to help you consume the fruits of your labor.
  2. Gardening. Fall is the harvest season, but you don’t have to be a farmer to plan a harvest. You can work within your own home garden. What better way to get outside and in the fresh air than to take advantage of gardening season and plant produce.
  3. Leaf Peeping. The state of Florida is not known for its fall foliage, but there are certainly areas around the Sunshine State where you can find leaves changing color, often in mid-November. Take a drive to a sweet spot and bask in the fall colors.
  4. Football. Football needs no introduction to Floridians, whether you are rooting for the defending Super Bowls champs in Tampa Bay or cheering for the Gators, Seminoles, Hurricanes or Knights. When the calendar turns to fall, football is sure to follow, giving you the perfect opportunity to gather with friends and family to watch a game.
